Third District Hall of Fame Dinner
September 24, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
We now have a definite date and location for our first ever Third District Hall of Fame Dinner. It will be held on Saturday, September 24, with a social hour from 5-6, dinner from 6-7, and program to follow. The location is the UAW Hall that is located behind the Firestone plant that is on 2nd Avenue in Des Moines, and just south of the 2nd Avenue exit off I-80. The Polk County Democrats hold their annual event there and it has worked exceedingly well. It’s a great facility at a great price. The address for UAW Local 450 is 4589 N.W. 6th Drive, Des Moines, IA 50313.
Of course, the primary purpose of the event is to raise money we can donate to Jim Mowrer. But it will also provide us with an opportunity to socialize, and recognize and honor several Third District Democrats.
Below is a list of awards we would like to make at the dinner. I would greatly appreciate your nominations of individuals who you think worthy of these awards. Please see more details below about what should be included with each nomination.
The awards are as follows:
1) Outstanding county elected official;
2) Outstanding Third District state or federal elected official;
3) A lifetime member recognition (looking at 30+ years of service);
4) Outstanding Young D (might be a candidate who ran but lost, perhaps an outstanding young county central committee member);
5) Outstanding county chair (present or past);
6) Outstanding County;
7) Outstanding supporter/activist (think donations of $, time, and/or energy).
With each nomination, please provide about 1/2 page (or more) of information about the nominee, particularly why he or she is worthy of receiving the award. For awards for outstanding county, please feel free to nominate your own county or any other in the district. For those, please also include about 1/2 page of information supporting the nomination.
Please send all nominations to Jennifer Lunsford by August 23 by e-mail to: email@example.com.
Thanks! Please let me know if you have any questions. Bill
